GENERAL INFORMATION

ace drops beginners guide what is cbd

Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a chemical compound extracted from the cannabis plant.  Pure CBD is natural, non-habit forming, and nonpsychedelic. While CBD is a small component of marijuana (one of many), unlike typical marijuana, CBD does NOT get you high. CBD is, however, often associated with feelings of relaxation and calm.  CBD products typically have a THC concentration of less than .03% but be sure to read the product label for a more detailed description.

It is becoming recognized for its benefits on human and animal health and is capable of affecting nearly every biological process via the Endocannabinoid system. Early research and anecdotal evidence show promise for CBD and other Phytocannabinoids to support health and wellness.

CBD oil gives people the independence to treat themselves with a natural, non-habit forming, homeostatic remedy.  CBD could lessen the costly need for potentially harmful prescription drugs.  Recently, CBD has become the forefront of scientific research resulting in experts all over the world uncovering the benefits CBD oil has on the body’s physiological system.  Although this is a relatively new area of study, there have been no serious side effects recorded with excessive CBD oil use.  It is not possible to overdose or become addicted to CBD oil.

ace drops beginners guide is cbd legal

In 2018, The Farm Bill passed that made production of industrial hemp legal in the United States.  Since CBD hemp oil and hempseed oil are in the same cannabis genre, they are often marketed as the same thing.  CBD, as an ingredient, is generally more expensive than hempseed oil, and thus CBD related products tend to be more expensive. Manufacturers can increase their product prices by marketing their products as if they contain CBD. The best way to distinguish what you are paying for when purchasing a cannabis related product is by looking at its listings.  Hempseed oil will be listed as cannabis sativa seed oil. CBD will usually be listed as cannabidiol, full-spectrum hemp, hemp oil, PCR (phytocannabinoid-rich) or PCR hemp extracts.

Any hemp-derived CBD product with a THC percentage of less than 0.3 percent, is legal on the federal level but is still illegal under some state laws. Marijuana-derived CBD products are illegal on the federal level but are legal under some state laws. Check your state’s laws and the laws of anywhere you travel before using.

• 10-25mg a day for a light dosage
• 30-75mg a day for a moderate dosage

CBD has two main applications with distinct advantages for each: Oral and Topical. By knowing the difference between the two applications and the advantages of each, you can better understand which CBD product is best suited for your needs.

Topicals are applied externally on the body and can help soothe mild physical discomfort on the affected area. Oral CBD is consumed Sublingually (Under the Tongue) or by ingesting, and is more focused on cognitive wellness. Topicals generally have more immediate effects, while oral ingestion will have a longer lasting effect.

All CBD products should be examined via the product label.  BUT typically CBD products have a THC concentration of less than 0.3%.  Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is the compound responsible for making people feel high.  What gets people confused is where the CBD oil is extracted.  Both THC and CBD are extracted from the cannabis plant, but both compounds can be isolated from one another. Manufactures typically infuse CBD into tincturesediblestopicalssoft gels and other products.  These products, by law, can contain no more than 0.3 percent THC. This is not enough to create any psychoactive symptoms.

Confusion between these two oils typically comes from where they are extracted: the cannabis plant.   Hempseed oil is oil extracted from the pressing of seeds from the cannabis plant while CBD hemp oil is derived from the flowers, leaves, and stems of the cannabis plant.

Hempseed Oil does not typically contain CBD, and thus can be advertised in all 50 states. CBD Hemp oil contains concentrations of CBD and is legal at the federal level, but some state levels describe laws pertaining to CBD differently.

Products containing hempseed and CBD hemp oils do not typically cause a high, since the levels of THC, if any, tend to be exceptionally low.  These products, by law, can have no more than 0.3% of THC.   Psychoactive symptoms would be nonexistent at this concentration of THC.

EFFECTS OF CBD

There is very little evidence showing any adverse effects associated with CBD consumption.  In fact, evidence suggests that high-dose CBD may enhance the effects of some pharmaceutical medications.  However, CBD is considered generally well-tolerated and even high doses of the cannabinoid produce but minimal side effects.

According to various trials, the FDA has concluded that the benefits of CBD outweighs the risks of the epilepsy drug Epidiolex.

The ECS basically helps maintain the body’s normal homeostasis.  Hemostasis refers to the stability of a person’s internal environment. For more information on ECS functionality, check out this Intro To The Endocannabinoid System article.

The ECS can be broken down into three components; Endocannabinoids, Receptors, and Enzymes.  For more information on the ECS and its three components, check out Ace Drop’s “CBD and ECS” page!

Cannabinoids are a class of components derived from the Cannabis sativa plant which directly interact with receptors found in the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS).

Cannabinoids have a similar structure to Endocannabinoids that are produced naturally in the body.  This allows them to bind to CB1, and CB2 receptors located throughout our body, thus eliciting a normal physiological response.  The effects vary depending on the ratio of cannabinoids ingested and the specific receptors to which they bind.

Emotional Benefits of CBD Oil

CBD oil elicits a response from our brain to release Serotonin, a hormone that affects our moods and behaviors.  The extended release of this hormone could improve a diverse array of emotional issues we see daily; these include anxiety, stress, and even depression.

Physical Benefits of CBD Oil

CBD interacts with our body’s endocannabinoid system.  The Endocannabinoid System, or ESC, is a biological system responsible for the release of endocannabinoids, a type of neurotransmitter.  Endocannabinoids bind to cannabinoid receptors and proteins in our central and peripheral nervous system.

The body naturally produced these neurotransmitters called endocannabinoids.  Endocannabinoids interact with cannabinoid receptors within our brain.  CBD stimulates the production of more endocannabinoid, and basically disrupts the communication between our body and its receptors in the brain.  So, why would this biological disruption be beneficial?  CBD could then inhibit pain signals from reaching the brain, thus providing pain relief for the individual.

Mental Benefits of CBD Oil

CBD oil has also shown to work with the endocannabinoid system to curb the onset of symptoms such as muscle spasms, convulsions, and seizures, thus providing possible improvement to chronic mental conditions like multiple sclerosis and epilepsy.

CBD consumption may be safely taken with certain medications under careful supervision and advice from your doctor. There are some early research suggesting CBD may have similar effects as grapefruit juice: decreasing medication effectiveness and raising plasma serum levels.

Medications that contain a grapefruit warning may interact similarly with CBD products. The bottom line is to always consult your healthcare professional about potential interactions or other possible complications.

Around 31% of Adults in the United States are affected by some sort of Anxiety Disorder, making it the most prominent health condition in the United States today. CBD, or cannabidiol helps regulate fear and anxiety induced behaviors by binding to cannabinoid receptors in our brain. In fact, research suggests that CBD can help treat a variety of anxiety disorders, including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Panic Disorder, Obsessive-compulsive Disorder, and Social Anxiety Disorder.
